The Ligurian Riviera is a vibrant territory littered with interesting towns and areas. Of course, Cinque Terre is the star attraction, but within 30 minutes of La Spezia, there are dozens of other spectacular places to visit, such as:

Portovenere. An attractive and well-preserved medieval town, with a castle, beaches, dramatic cliffs, and a bustling little port with classy restaurants serving mouthwatering seafood.

Levanto, Bonassola and Framura. Intimate beach towns with rich historical and cultural traditions. The narrow, cobblestone streets are lined with cute shops, cafes, and traditional Ligurian architecture.

Sarzana. Nestled between Liguria and Tuscany. With quirky boutique shops and a vibrant social scene, Sarzana is totally off the beaten path and won’t disappoint.

It’s easy to see why we chose La Spezia as our home base in Italy! And if you have an open mind and a desire to explore off the beaten path, then take some time to browse our content on these and other nearby towns.
